The image shows piping being installed under the second floor slab. Piping is hung on sling hangers which will allow for movement in the pipe during expansion, contraction, and fluid flow loading. The "U" loop at the ceiling is an expansion loop which will allow the piping installation to take up any change in overall length due to expansion. It is designed as a large spring and relies on the resiliency of the steel to provide memory to the configuration.
