image 5: Emergency Generator.
The emergency generator has an automatic switching mechanism which turns it on should power fail in the building. Selected power outlets and lighting circuits would then be fed with emergency power. These circuits are normally active and would continue to be active should a power failure occur in the service drop or grid feeding the building. Image 5 shows the two mufflers which come off the top of the diesel powered generator.
