Steel
image 5: Steel erection.
Image 5 is another view of ironworkers guiding a steel girder into position with the aid of a drift pin. Once the drift pin has been inserted and the bolt holes are aligned, one or two structural bolts are hand tightened to hold the steel in place. Prior to the completion of steel erection for the day, all bolts are installed and tightened with a torque wrench as specified. Note the isolated pour stop which has been fabricated with the column in the foreground.
The series of images 6-8, show various areas and views of steel erection which is indicative of a complicated loading condition. Note the many web stiffeners, shear plates, and moment arm extensions that have been fabricated onto the wide flange sections.
