Division 8 - Doors and Windows

Section 08800 Glass and Glazing
      Section 08900 Aluminum Curtain wall

image 8: Windows in an aluminum curtain wall assembly.

This view of the East elevation of the building shows three different types of window and or glazing conditions. The small window slots are glazed with glass block, while the normative exterior masonry assembly has aluminum framed windows with insulated glazing. The box volume, which juts out from the East wall, is aluminum clad curtain wall with aluminum framed windows. Windows arrived at the building site either glazed or unglazed depending on the size of the unit.

image 9: Borrow lights.

Image 9 shows a view of an atrium space which has interior borrow lights (windows which borrow light from another source) as well as the glass curtain wall beyond. These are shipped unglazed due to the size of the units, which would be difficult to install with the added weight of glass. The units will be field glazed prior to painting.
