The Angry Book
Shalini Patel, Printmaking, Junior, Syracuse University

This is a story about anger, violence, and how people deal with them.
The story is written to be as understandable for young readers as it is
for adults. However, the artist's basic purpose is to explore her own
anger at many things in pop culture, religion, the world, etc.
The text is digitally printed onto Rives BFK paper and sewn using a simple
pamphlet stitch. The book is intended to feel portable, accessible, and
light to offset the somewhat dreary content. Created in 2007 in an edition
of three.
Shalini Patel is currently pursuing her BFA in printmaking in the College
of Visual and Performing Arts. She is interested in the history of information
systems through art, literature, and technology. Her work frequently touches
upon post-colonialism through identity and constructions of East and West.
Currently, she is working on merging her work in new media with fine art
printmaking.
