Collection Spotlight: Visible Body Suite!
by Juan Denzer, Engineering and Computer Science Librarian
Visible Body Suite! is a 3D-visualization reference tool for exploring the human body.
You don’t have to be studying biology to take advantage of Visible Body Suite! This suite can serve as a great reference tool for those studying biomedical engineering. Or perhaps you are in computer science developing a VR application or game that includes parts of the human body and how they work. Maybe you are writing a story, and you need to have a good understanding of a part of the human body and need to visualize it. There is no limit to who can take advantage of VB Suite!
This suite provides you with anatomy references that may suit you better than a typical 3D Human Anatomy video online. It is also available through the library at no cost to our patrons via our institutional subscriptions.
Anatomy reference topics include:
- Human Anatomy
- Muscle and Kinesiology
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Physiology and Pathology
- Biology
The system includes these features:
- Anatomy search
- Dissection tool
- Multi-select
- Draw
- Notepad
- Save view
- Share
In addition to the features listed above, your library access includes these other free resources:
- Flashcards – Choose from premade or create your own cards to share with colleagues.
- Tour – Learn about the human anatomy and common conditions with a step-by-step guide.
- Lab Activities – Instructor-created lab activities used in conjunction with the anatomy apps.
- Visual Body Blog – This covers the anatomy, physiology, and associated pathologies of all the body systems.
- Learn Site – Anatomy and Physiology in a course format with illustrations and 3D animations that explain basic human biology concepts.
- eBooks – eBooks from regional anatomy to animal structures and functions.
If you have used VB Suite in the past, it now has a new menu and search system. You can learn more about it in this video: VB Suite: A look at the new menu and search system. The Study and My Library section in VB Suite has not changed with the new system. So, for those with a previous account, saved flashcards, tours, and favorites are still there.
If you are new to VB Suite or a past user and need a quick tutorial on how to use it, check out Getting Started with Visible Body Suite.
