You Asked, We Listened Spring 2025

The Libraries have several methods for routinely collecting user feedback. On the Libraries’ website, there’s a Feedback link in the upper right corner for anyone to provide suggestions on the Libraries’ services, collections or resources, website or another topic.

We conduct a variety of surveys, including a recent campus-wide awareness and perception survey that was emailed to all students, faculty and staff. We also seek feedback after using some study rooms or attending some events. We sometimes conduct in-person tabling to get feedback from users.

On occasion we utilize ‘Talk Back’ boards on the first floor of Bird Library to solicit input on certain topics or questions.

The Dean of the Libraries hosts ‘Donuts with the Dean’ each semester where input and suggestions are sought and gathered.

The Libraries’ Student Engagement Librarian also leads a Student Libraries Advisory Board that meets monthly to provide suggestions and feedback.

And we’ve implemented a tracking system for technology, so that when students request a piece of technology that we either don’t have in our current collection or is unavailable because it’s been checked out by someone else, we’re adding it to a list for future purchase consideration.
Based on user feedback this Spring semester, the Libraries have made the following improvements in Bird Library:
- Laptop docking stations with monitors on the first floor.
- New power outlets added to the lower level near CLASS and to the 4th floor near the media playback equipment.
- Signage updated in the elevators.
- Signage added to self-checkout stations.
- Floor maps updated with QR codes.
- Study rooms in Bird Library painted and floors waxed.
- Additional Massage Chair room added.
- Sensory friendly study rooms with dimmable lighting.
- Cleaning wipes at the Check Out Desk for students using study rooms.
