Scopus Author profiles live in the database, Scopus, which is one of the largest indexing and abstracting databases of scholarly literature available. Syracuse University Libraries maintains a subscription to Scopus.

Why should I check out Scopus Author Profiles?

The Author Profiles are a great way to learn about researchers and what they’re producing. For example, what topics does X scholar publish on frequently; who’s citing this scholar’s work; is this a prolific researcher in my field that I may want to follow?

If you’re a researcher/scholar publishing journal articles and/or conference proceedings, the Author Profiles can help you monitor your own works and assure that the publications being attributed to you are accurate. You can also track the citations and attention your publications are receiving.

Here are a few additional reasons to use the Scopus Author Profiles:

Graduate student uses:

- Follow the works of high-profile researchers in your field, who could become potential mentors, future advisors or collaborators.

- Sign up for alerts to monitor a particular researcher’s publications and when new publications become available.

Faculty uses:

- Keep track of your publications in the Author Profile to check for accuracy.

- Set up an email alert to be notified when your publications are cited by others

- Stay on top of author metrics like your h-Index, your percentage of international collaborations based on your co-authored publications, your percentage of top highly cited papers, your percentage of papers published in the top 25% of high impact journals and more.

Author Document and Citation Alerts

Choose “Set Alert” in the Author profiles to set up an automated email alert to notify you when an author/researcher has new publications or when an author’s work is cited.
