Depending on what you study, the articles people in your field are reading may not be in peer-reviewed journals. In fields as diverse as music, advertising, business, politics and international affairs, there are industry-standard magazines that practitioners and professors consider must-reads. Luckily, Syracuse University Libraries provides the SU community with access to many of these types of publications, including Billboard Pro, Adweek, The Economist, Foreign Policy Online, Foreign Affairs and POLITICO Pro.

Looking to feel the rhythm of the music business? Then check out the Libraries’ access to Billboard Pro, which includes access to Billboard’s weekly charts and news and expert commentary on the music business, including digital-first content and interactive features. Note that Billboard Pro requires users to create an individual account with your @syr.edu address and a unique password (do not reuse your NetID login/password). Access to other resources mentioned in this article go through the usual Libraries’ login page.

Want to know what’s trending with people and companies in advertising? SU Libraries provides full access to the advertising and marketing trade publication Adweek, including access to premium articles, embedded images and streaming video.

Looking to monitor what is going on with policymaking in Washington? POLITICO Pro has extensive coverage of daily developments in Congress and the Executive Branch, as well as major cases proceeding through the Federal Judiciary. It also has coverage of some states, including New York.

If you’re looking for international news or commentary about global affairs, The Economist, Foreign Policy Online and Foreign Affairs will keep you informed about issues and events that do not always make it into major U.S. news outlets and provide more in-depth content for those that do. The Economist and Foreign Policy Online each provide a mix of news and commentary from reporters, and Foreign Affairs is a destination for essays from policymakers, academics and other thought leaders on international affairs.

Access these and other resources through Syracuse University Libraries to stay current with the conversations practitioners in your field are having in the private, public and non-profit sectors.
