September 17, 2024 is both Constitution Day and National Voter Registration Day, and Syracuse University Libraries is providing resources and information on the first floor of Bird Library for all patrons.

In honor of Constitution Day, the Syracuse University Libraries is offering free pocket-size Constitution books on September 17th. As a congressionally designated depository for U.S. government documents (a Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) member), Syracuse University Libraries provides public access to the government document collection, as guaranteed by public law (Title 44 United States Code). All visitors are welcome to use the Government Documents Collection when the library is open to the public, Monday through Friday 8 am to 8 pm. Providing free copies of the mini-Constitution books is part of the Libraries’ commitment as an FDLP member. More information about the U.S. Constitution is available on the Libraries’ Government Information Research Guide.

Voting is a constitutional right and a civic responsibility, and one of Syracuse University’s key competencies is encouraging “engagement in responsible, collaborative, and inclusive civic and cross cultural learning…” In collaboration with the Office of Government and Community Relations and as part of the Federal Higher Education Act, universities are required to make a good faith effort to have voter registration forms available to all students eligible to vote. Syracuse University Libraries is proud to provide voter registration forms from September 16 through October 25. For more information on voting eligibility and process, visit https://gcr.syr.edu/voting/.
