Applications open for 2020 Medical Device Innovation Challenge
The NYS Empire State Development grant-funded CNY Biotech Accelerator Medical Device Innovation Challenge (MDIC) applications are now open through May 31, 2020. Selected participants receive 6-months of free work space in the Creation Garage at the Central New York Biotech Accelerator, intensive mentorship, and coordinated access to SUNY Upstate Medical University research partners, clinical experts and core facilities. Selected participants gain targeted resource assistance and networking opportunities. Two SU student teams have participated in the program, In-Spire, a wearable wristband asthma rescue inhaler, and MedUX, a mobile intravenous delivery system that does not require an IV pole. In-Spire won first place in the 2018 competition, and MedUX won second place in the 2019 competition.
