Libraries’ Fall 2025 Hours and Welcome Week Activities
Update Aug. 20, 2025: Due to inclement weather, Bird Library Family Lounge will take place today inside Bird Library in the Pages Cafe.
Syracuse University Libraries’ Fall 2025 regular hours will take effect August 25 and run through December 16, 2025. Regular hours, excluding exceptions, are as follows with full details at library.syracuse.edu/hours/:
- Bird Library:
- Lower Level to 2nd Floor: Open 24 hours Monday – Thursday, Friday closes at 10 pm, Saturday open 10 am to 10 pm, Sunday reopens at 10 am.
- Floors 3 to 5: Monday – Thursday 8 am to midnight, Friday 8 am to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am to 10 pm, Sunday 10 am to midnight
- 6th Floor including Special Collections Research Center: Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm with extended hours on Wednesdays to 7 pm.
- As a reminder, users must have a valid SU or SUNY-ESF ID to enter the building after 7 pm.
- Carnegie Library: Monday – Thursday 8 am to 11 pm, Friday 8 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 pm to 8 pm.
- King + King Architecture Library: Monday – Thursday 9 am to 11 pm, Friday 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday 10 am to 11 pm.
- College of Law Library: Monday – Thursday 8 am to 7 pm, Friday 8 am to 5 pm, closed Saturdays and Sundays.
The Libraries is participating in several Welcome Week activities as students return to campus, including:
- Family Lounge outside of Bird Library (across Einhorn Walk) and Carnegie Library (Shaw Quadrangle entrance) on Wednesday, August 20, and Thursday, August 21, from 12-4pm each day. Students and their families and supporters are invited to take a break from moving into the residence halls to learn about the Libraries. Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as Libraries information. Library tours will be available by request.
- Pre-Welcome Resource Fair in Bird Library on Wednesday, August 20 from 2 – 4 pm.
- Book Club Meetups in Bird Library on Friday, August 22 from 10 am – 12 pm and 2 – 4pm in Room 606 (Hillyer) and Saturday, August 23 from 10 am – 12 pm in Peter Graham Scholarly Commons (Room 114).
- Welcome Fest in Bird Library’s 1st Floor on Wednesday, September 3 from 11am - 3pm. All students are invited to attend this open house-style event with tables highlighting the many offerings of the Libraries, several partners and other campus departments. Students can stop by to participate in raffles, snacks and a “passport” activity encouraging participants to visit all tables.
