The Route 90 corridor from the Capital district to the Buffalo-Niagara frontier, and the Route 81 corridor from the North Country to the Southern Tier, is a well networked research and development corridor.  Right at the center of it, at the crossroads of innovation, is Syracuse.  Here is a handy roundup of the many exciting innovation events happening along this network of collaborators.  We are pleased to work with these partners to help grow the regional ecosystem.

UNY I-Corps Short Course

Interested in exploring the market potential of your work and learning entrepreneurial skills? Attend one of the many free, 2-week I-Corps short courses New York has to offer this fall! The course, designed for STEM field researchers and student entrepreneurs, aims to educate participants on how to solve real-world problems with sizeable market opportunities. The program includes workshops, potential customer conversations, coaching and presentations.

Concept to Commercialization Boot Camp

The third annual Concept to Commercialization Boot Camp will be held on Thursday, October 3 through Friday, October 4, 2019. The event, hosted by the Innovation Resource Center, Empire State Development and CNY Biotech Accelerator, and Upstate Medical University, will feature a keynote speech from Dr. Peter Boatwright of Carnegie Mellon University. The Boot Camp will cover topics including business model canvas, intellectual property, manufacturing, business development, etc.

New York State Innovation Summit

October 7 – 8, 2019 – Rochester Convention Center, Rochester, NY

The New York State Innovation Summit will be held in Rochester on October 7 through October 8, 2019. The event, which is hosted by FuzeHub and NYSTAR, is aimed at New York State startups, developers, manufacturers and businesses looking to showcase and discover new and emerging technologies that support innovation and drive business growth. The Summit will celebrate the state’s leadership in technology-fronted economic growth and feature expert speakers in biotechnology, energy information, artificial intelligence and many other industries.

MedTech 2019

MedTech’s annual conference will be held on October 22 to October 23, 2019. An event focused on bio/med, the conference will focus on bringing innovations to the market, tackling workforce challenges, and bolstering New York’s economy. Additionally, the conference will feature speed networking, a tech showcase, a C-suite roundtable, and several other activities.

Special note:  Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars executive director was honored to be nominated for the “Get It Done” award by MedTech as part of this event.

NEXT 2019

NEXT, a conference focused on innovation in technology, manufacturing and biotech, is back in Syracuse on Friday, November 8, 2019. The conference aims to bring together fast-track companies, managers, researchers, medical professionals, investors and entrepreneurs for a day of thought exchange and networking. NEXT will feature two keynote speakers, along with interactive educational workshops covering a variety of tracks. Finally, the event will host a technology showcase featuring breakthrough university and industry research.

Commercialization Competition 2019

FuzeHub will host its third annual Commercialization Competition from November 18 – 19, 2019 in Albany. The two-day event features a pitch competition, panel discussions and networking opportunities. The competition, which will award $400,000 in prize money, is a part of the Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund and aims to grow the entrepreneurial network in New York State.
