On May 19th EBSCO e-Books is transitioning their e-Book reader from Adobe Digital Editions to Thorium Reader.
What's not changing:
- Reading EBSCO eBooks in your browser
- Downloading e-book chapters and DRM-free EBSCO eBooks
- EBSCO full-text article downloads
- E-book formats provided to the user (EPUB, PDF)
- Checkout durations and rules set by the library, existing user checkouts
- Library authentication and personalization
What Is changing:
- The end user experience for downloading entire DRM-protected EBSCO eBooks for offline reading
- The reader program to open those downloaded DRM-protected e-books
Installing the Thorium Reader:
Thorium Reader is already installed on the Libraries public computers (loaner laptops and public desktops). For other Syracuse University owned and managed computers, download Thorium Reader from Company Portal for Windows PCs or Self Service+ for Macs. For those using their personal devices, Thorium Reader can be downloaded directly from the Thorium site.
