Prolonging the life of and long-term access to the University’s rare and archival holdings for generations of students, faculty, researchers and the wider public is core to the mission of SCRC. Our Conservation Program is responsible for the conservation of SCRC materials through various practices including materials assessment, individual treatments, research and development of appropriate housing, environmental monitoring and analysis of our spaces, exhibition preparation and installation, and disaster planning and response. Through preservation education and best practices, including preservation resources, programs and instruction opportunities, SCRC has a strong commitment to responsibly care for the collection materials in our stewardship.
