The Native Heritage Month book display creates awareness of Indigenous histories as well as modern Indigenous issues. A major theme within the display educates folks about the harmful nature of colonial ideologies and instead re-centers and elevates Indigenous voices, cultural knowledge, showcases modern Indigenous issues and celebrates Indigenous experiences.

The Libraries' celebration of Native Heritage Month features books and videos selected by Nevaeh Marshall, who is a Syracuse University Graduate Academic Consultant within the Native Student Program, Syracuse University alumna Aysha-Lynn Estrella and Katsitsatekanoniahkwa Destiny Lazore, and Syracuse University former staff member Bailey Tlachac.

Explore the titles featured on the Native Heritage Month Research Guide and be sure to visit the in-person display on Bird Library’s first floor during the month of November.
